創立於1854年的法國精品品牌路易威登（Louis Vuitton），原本僅製作行李箱及手提包，首度推出時裝系列是在1998年，至今恰好滿20週年。為了慶祝這難得的里程碑，Louis Vuitton將時裝大秀的照片，整合為全面性的作品集《路易威登時裝秀》（Louis Vuitton Catwalk），以超過1,350張照片，完整回顧20年來前後兩任藝術總監的創作成果。

全書由首任藝術總監Marc Jacobs開始，以圖文交錯的方式，利用伸展台照片為主要素材，帶領讀者回憶Louis Vuitton自1998年開創成衣系列以來，許多令人難忘的時刻，以及Marc Jacobs卸任之後，過渡到Nicolas Ghesquière的時代交替，除了服裝以外，配件、包袋、造型，以及場景布置，皆在書中完整呈現。

Louis Vuitton雖然早在1854年就成立，手提包也一直都非常受歡迎，但直到1990年代，LVMH主席暨執行長Bernard Arnault才決定為集團拓展業務，在美國版《Vogue》總編輯安娜溫圖（Anna Wintour）的介紹下，Marc Jacobs被延攬為首任藝術總監，1998年推出充滿極簡風（minimalism）氣息的秋冬系列。

除了極簡風格，Marc Jacobs在擔任藝術總監的16年間，還為Louis Vuitton帶來了護士裝、東方風情，以及街頭、童話等不同元素。大秀的舞台經常十分戲劇化，電扶梯、旋轉木馬、蒸汽火車、噴泉等壯麗的場地皆深植人心。

Marc Jacobs在2014年秋冬系列發表後，宣布離開Louis Vuitton，接棒的Nicolas Ghesquière，將對建築藝術的熱情帶進時裝設計之中，服裝中經常可以看見向經典設計致敬的影子。

度假系列成為Nicolas Ghesquière入主Louis Vuitton後發展的重點。出於對藝術及文化熱情，他將度假系列的大秀，搬到世界各地知名景點，打造結合多元文化元素的作品。自從在西歐小國摩納哥（Monaco）發表2015早春系列起，Nicolas Ghesquière先後將Louis Vuitton的足跡，帶往美國加州棕櫚泉（Palm Springs, California）的鮑伯霍伯故居（Bob Hope Estate）、巴西里約熱內盧（Rio de Janeiro）的海灘，以及日本京都附近的美秀美術館等地。

作品集序言由英國《金融時報》（Financial Times）的時裝編輯Jo Ellisonm撰寫，圖文編輯則由知名時尚策展人Louise Rytter負責。Louise Rytter曾在維多利亞與亞伯特博物館（Victoria & Albert Museum）擔任策展人，也是虛擬博物館Google Cultural Institute中《穿在我們身上的文化》（We Wear Culture）專題的內容編輯，目前擔任自由策展人與評論家。
